IN OUR COMMUNITY
Owners, Steve and Tammy, along
with their family participate in many events around the community,
volunteering their time in many ways. We enjoy the community and are never
short of fun things to do.
2006 SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION To celebrate the 150th birthday of Columbus in 2006, Steve, Tammy, and Tyler dressed in period clothing for many community events throughout the year, including the Columbus Days Parade. Employees on duty at Joe & Al's Grocery were also dressed in period clothing to help set the atmosphere for the year long agenda of special events.

DOWNTOWN
BUSINESS ASSOCIATION: Steve is Co-Manager of the
Downtown Business Association, LLC (DBA).

DOWNTOWN EASTER EGG HUNT:
Steve and Tammy both volunteer for the annual DBA Easter Egg Hunt project.
This is a safe and fun-filled Easter hunt for young children ages 2-5. Youll
find Steve hopping around dressed as Bugs Bunny and Tammy will be snapping
your photos at the photo tent.

DOWNTOWN TRICK OR TREAT:
Steve, Tammy along with their son Tyler, dress up in fun costumes on Trick
or Treat Day and walk the main street area downtown handing out treats to
the children.
LAWNCHAIRS
ON THE SQUARE:
Steve and Tammy both volunteer their time weekly at Lawnchairs on the
Square, and annually sponsor entertainment. In addition to working at the
hot dog grill and funnel cake fryer, they also make and donate cotton candy
to the weekly summer event.

DOWNTOWN CHRISTMAS STROLL: During
the annual DBA Christmas Stroll, Steve and Tammy host a wine tasting event
at the store and co-sponsor a Gingerbread House Contest at the Immanuel Family
Life Center in Downtown Columbus. Entrants are divided into three age groups
and judges determine the winners.

TASTE OF COLUMBUS:
Joe & Als Grocery grills up steaks to sample at this annual community
fundraiser hosted by the Columbus
Area Chamber of Commerce.

COLUMBUS DAYS PARADE:
You might have seen the Dolezals jaunting along in a vintage Meadow Gold milk
truck in the annual Columbus Days Parade.

HOMEMAKERS COOKING SCHOOL:
Joe & Als Grocery helps to sponsor this event. The store donates
food to the show and hosts a fun booth for those attending the cooking school..
GRILLIN WITH NORM AND STEVE
A community education class held by Central Community College Columbus Campus.
Joe & Als Grocery and Norm Pinkelman, Manager of the Elks Country
Club in Columbus, host a grilling class in the backyard setting of the Dolezal
home. Guests enjoy sampling and learn to prepare a wide variety of grilled
foods, including dessert.

KIDS EXPLORE:
Joe & Als Grocery helps to sponsor this event and hosts a fun-filled
booth full of activities for children.
MILITARY FAMILIES UNITE SUPPORT
GROUP:
Tammy Dolezal and Irene Clayburn organized and coordinate this support group.
It is a family support group for families who have a loved on serving in the
United States Millitary. Meetings are held monthly at the American Legion
Post 84 In Columbus. For more information call Joe & Al's Grocery 564-8181
and ask for Tammy or Steve.

TABLES WITH A TWIST:
Tammy Dolezal created this table setting to pay tribute to those serving in
the US Military for the annual Tables with a Twist event.

COMMUNITY THEATER:
Tammy and Tyler both appeared for the first time on stage in the Platte Valley
Playhouse production of "A Bad Day at Gopher's Breath" in 2005.
