Joe & Al’s Grocery is the only home-owned grocery store in Columbus and has been serving this community for many years. Joe & Al’s was founded in 1968 by Al Dolezal and Joe Gdowski. Both men were employed at Hinky Dinky in Columbus until the opportunity arose to purchase the local Foxie’s IGA (formerly Lueschen’s IGA) in Columbus. The two men created a strong customer base with their attention to quality, service and value. Steve Dolezal (son of Al Dolezal) has worked at the store since he was a child. Steve and his wife, Tammy, purchased Joe & Al’s Grocery after the original owners retired. Steve and Tammy are proud to continue to serve you with that same attention to quality, service and value.
Joe & Al’s Grocery has always featured a higher quality line of meat than the other stores in Columbus, and offers that higher quality for very low prices. When deciding where to purchase the quality foods you serve your family, remember to shop at Joe & Al’s Grocery, where you’ll always find the best meats in town, and a complete selection of fruits and vegetables with “fresh from the field” goodness. As an added convenience, home delivery is offered on weekdays.
Home delivery service is offered Monday through Friday, except holidays, within the city of Columbus, Nebraska. We accept grocery orders by telephone from 8:00 AM until Noon. Groceries are delivered after lunch approximately between the hours of 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM the same day. Payment for groceries and a small delivery fee is due on delivery.
